| Introduction | Sermorelin acetate/Sermorelin acetate (also known as INN/Geref/Gerel), also known as GHRH (1-29), is a peptide analog of growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) used to evaluate growth hormone (GH ) secreted diagnostic agent for the diagnosis of growth hormone deficiency. It is a 29 amino acid polypeptide representing fragments 1-29 from endogenous human GHRH and is considered to be the shortest fully functional fragment of GHRH.Sermorelin acts on the growing GHRHr in the pituitary to regulate cellular activity. GHRHr is the natural receptor for the endogenous hormone GHRH, a signaling hormone produced by the hypothalamus. This receptor controls the release of growth hormone, primarily by inhibiting somatostatin activity, among many other functions. |
